This June Quarry Bank Musical Theatre Society will be hot on the heels of their hugely successful run of Sister Act, by bringing the popular classic ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ here to the Civic. Prepare to ‘get wet’ as you follow the story of Don and Kathy at a time when Silent Movies were coming to an end.  If the set and staging is anything to go by, it looks to be another massive show!

Singin in the Rain is set in the roaring ’20s and silent movie stars are the biggest names in the world. Don Lockwood has it all, a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town. But with the new phenomenon of the talking picture on the way and a chance meeting with a talented young chorus girl set to steal his heart, things are about to change for Don and for Hollywood forever.
With all the charm, romance, comedy and tinsel town glamour of one of the world’s best-loved films, the Singin in the Rain songs include Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the legendary Singin’ in the Rain

ROMAN ROMP

A farcical adult comedy by K.R.S. Foster

The company that brings you the Adult Panto each year will be returning in the summer with their farcical adult comedy, ROMAN ROMP.

At the Temple of Vesta, celibacy is a way of life. However, for reluctant virgin, Frigella the Fulfiller, this means her only chance at Shagamus is to escape to the Temple of Venus next door. A fool-proof plan is needed and this must be expertly implemented to avoid a nasty punishment.

Sadly, with Frigella’s well-meaning but charmingly stupid friend, Bimbus, things will never be straightforward, especially with the High Priestess Virginia Creeper, suspicious of her every move!

Don’t miss this hilarious evening of farcical confusion and outrageous innuendo

... it may also contain mild audience participation!

Suitable for ages 16+

On 21st June 2019 we Welcome The UK’s finest Black Sabbath tribute!

Sabbra Cadabra is the closest thing you can get to an early 1970s Black Sabbath show without using a time travel device!

The group features Neil Priddey on lead guitar as ‘Tony’, Tim Campling on bass as ‘Geezer’, Stuart Mills on drums as ‘Bill’ and of course, starring as ‘Ozzy’, is vocalist Kevin McGillian.

The Sabbra Cadabra show is a very faithful reproduction of early Sabbath material, featuring absolute classics from the first 8 albums with the original line-up between 1970 and 1978.

The attention to detail with performing and attempting to look like the Godfathers of Heavy Metal is simply superb. After all, you don’t want to watch just a bunch of guys in jeans and t-shirts do you?!

Sabbra Cadabra get as close as you can get to being authentic to the legend that is Black Sabbath, so they don’t play any Ozzy solo material, they don’t play anything from after 1978 and they don’t play the songs like a covers band would!

For a totally absorbing and realistic Black Sabbath material (and many have said better-sounding than the last couple of Sabbath concerts...) then you simply cannot miss seeing Sabbra Cadabra for the best Sabbath experience you’re likely to see!

Don’t miss it! Sabbra Cadabra play 2 hours of non-stop classic Sabbath...no Ozzy solo songs...no Randy Rhoads or Zakk Wylde 'interpretations' of Sabbath...no dodgy wigs...no 'pub band cover versions'...no changing the keys from the originals...THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE TO SABBATH, PLAYED LIKE SABBATH, SOUNDS LIKE SABBATH!

Once the guys have finished their fantastic set a 'Rock' DJ Will Play on until late.

Tickets £10 in advance or £12.50 on the door.

Described as “The best Bon Jovi tribute band in the world” Wrong Jovi are a 5-piece look-and-sound-alike tribute who deliver a concert experience like no other.

Frontman Ally Ward’s soaring lead vocals transports audiences back to the days when Jon Bon Jovi was the greatest frontman on the planet while Mark Harding provides the virtuosic fire and passion of Richie Sambora’s superlative guitar skills.

They’re joined by keyboard wizard Simon Tabert – a classically trained pianist who portrays the role of David Bryan - while the thunderous rhythm section of Tico Torres and Hugh McDonald is provided by Jon ‘Alex’ Sturgeon (drums) and James Houghton (bass), two fantastic musicians with a wealth of experience behind them.

Since their formation, Wrong Jovi have taken the tribute circuit by storm, regularly selling out established music venues and theatres around the UK. They’ve even been personally thanked by former Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora, for the work they do.

With their attention to detail, stagecraft and natural charisma, Wrong Jovi never fail to turn every venue into an arena. Greatest hits such as ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’, ‘Always’, ‘Bed Of Roses’ and ‘Bad Medicine’ are mixed with live favourites such as ‘Blood On Blood’ and ‘Raise Your Hands’ to provide a high octane journey through the bands back catalogue. And with rarities like Dry County and This Ain’t A Love Song to please even the most die-hard fans there really is something for everyone.

T.Rextasy, the very best T.Rex Tribute.

Marc Bolan, with his band T.Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era.  With Bolan's special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs, the band had a string of huge hits throughout the 1970s including Love to Boogie, Telegram Sam, Jeepster and 20th Century Boy.

T.Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 20 years, a career that ironically out lives Marc’s very own T.Rex.  The band is now accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management.  The band has been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’.

Truly a rock’n’roll concert for all ages - If you would like to know exactly what a Marc Bolan concert was like in the 1970s, this show is for you!

QUOTES

T.Rextasy – awarded the accolade of ‘The Best Live Tribute Band in the UK ’ by BBC1 TV.

‘They’re the closest you’re ever going to get to the real thing’

- Bill Legend (original T.Rex drummer)

‘T.Rextasy are the tribute act who break all the rules by being bloody brilliant.  Danielz is an exact replica of Marc, he’s uncanny.

- The Independent on Sunday

‘Danielz is a curator of Bolan’s life, a perfectionist protector of the legacy – T.Rextasy play with a poignant, flamboyant skill.’

- The Observer

“Danielz looks and sounds uncannily like Bolan and has dedicated his life to the man” – The Times

“Danielz is more than a career lookalike.  Here we have a serious guitarist with the animal grace of early Bolan and the clear unequivocal love of the music”

– The Stage

“Danielz just freaks me out!”

– Mickey Finn (original T.Rex percussionist)

Go Back To Your Roots!

Remember those classic days at DY5, Millennium, PJ’s, Academy where the music was just fantastic, or heading a bit further back and afar to Christophers, The Kingfisher, 42nd Street, Bentleys and Goldsmiths, but wherever it was, the groove just seemed that much better.

Well, that music is back, and back with a vengeance.

“ReUnion” at Brierley Hill Civic launches in February 2019. Classic Club Tunes and Chart Classics from three fantastic decades.

Appearing approximately every mid-month on a Friday Night, The Civic hosts “ReUnion”. Ultimate DJ’s, Video Screens, Great Sound System and fair bar prices guarantee a night to remember, every month!

The Eighties, Nineties and Naughties have never sounded so great and looked so good.

It’s a bargain £5 to get in, and the party goes from 9 till 1am (doors at 8pm).
