 Sweeney Entertainments proudly present

T.REXTASY - The Greatest Hits Tour

Marc Bolan, with his band T.Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era.  With Bolan's special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs, the band had a string of huge hits throughout the 1970s including Love to Boogie, Telegram Sam, Jeepster and 20th Century Boy.

T.Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 25 years, a career that ironically out lives Marc’s very own T.Rex.  The band is now accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management.  The band has been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’.

Truly a rock’n’roll concert for all ages - If you would like to know exactly what a Marc Bolan concert was like in the 1970s, this show is for you!

Tickets £24

QUOTES:

T.Rextasy – awarded the accolade of ‘The Best Live Tribute Band in the UK ’ by BBC1 TV.

‘They’re the closest you’re ever going to get to the real thing’

- Bill Legend (original T.Rex drummer)

‘T.Rextasy are the tribute act who break all the rules by being bloody brilliant.  Danielz is an exact replica of Marc, he’s uncanny.

- The Independent on Sunday

‘Danielz is a curator of Bolan’s life, a perfectionist protector of the legacy – T.Rextasy play with a poignant, flamboyant skill.’

- The Observer

“Danielz looks and sounds uncannily like Bolan and has dedicated his life to the man” – The Times

“Danielz is more than a career lookalike.  Here we have a serious guitarist with the animal grace of early Bolan and the clear unequivocal love of the music”

– The Stage

“Danielz just freaks me out!”

– Mickey Finn (original T.Rex percussionist)

NOT LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER

A parody of LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER by DH LAWRENCE

Think The Naked Gun and Airplane! mixed with a steamy costume drama. A laughter-filled parody of the D.H. Lawrence novel.

Lady Chatterley welcomes home her husband, Clifford, from a war that has left the world in tatters. With Clifford’s legs also in tatters, he arrives at Wragby Manor confined to a wheelchair and clutching his secret.

Despite her husband’s impotence, a subject that all struggle to avoid; Constance entertains the idea that one day they could have a child. However, as the couple grow apart Constance falls into a passionate, sexual and curiously experimental affair with estate gamekeeper: Mellors.

Expect long contemplative looks into the middle distance, moments of touching drama, plenty of farce and a gentle stroke of innuendo in this Mel Brooks style parody.

She's the Stockport housewife, cleaner to the stars and keen ‘Take a Break’ reader, who has been delighting live comedy audiences for 25 years with her unbridled enthusiasm. She gave up the domestic bliss of tupperware and Pound Stretcher shops for the unpredictability of the comedy world, but no audience is too rowdy for her to handle.

Barbara performs playful, life-affirming shows for all the family. With the affectionate attitude of a playgroup leader at a wild Iggy Pop concert, she is guaranteed to warm the heart of any audience. She has been compared to Victoria Wood, Mrs. Merton, and Julie Walters.

Barbara reached the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent in 2019, narrowly missing out on a place in the final by just a few votes.

"Good old-fashioned hearty humour that everyone can relate to. Musical statues, stage dives, sing-a-longs – this is a show with something for everyone.. this cheeky chirpy Stockport housewife wants everyone to have a good time..  a riotous raucous hour of all-inclusive fun. If you like fun, and you like laughter, and your soul needs a bit of a boost, Mrs Barbara Nice will not disappoint" ★★★★ London Is Funny

A complete night of Soul, Funk and Disco.

We've been running "We Got Soul" now for the last few years and it has built into a truly great night and we cover Motown, Old Soul and a bit of Northern Soul, but we seem to get loads of requests that head into that ... shall we call it ... soulful disco?

Its not "Old Soul" and it's not "Stayin' Alive!", it's that grey area populated by Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, Rock Your Baby, Love Really Hurts Without You, Ain't Nobody etc.
Great tunes, great dancing and they are soulful but we don't really bring them in much on a "We Got Soul" event ...so ...
Think “Car Wash”, “C.O.N.T.A.C.T.”, “Miss Grace”, “Young Hearts”, “Rock Your Baby”, “Never Too Much”, “Ain’t Nobody”, “Boogie Nights” , “Street Life” and you’ll get the vibe.

Quite simply a great night out and tickets only £5 in advance!

After much deliberation we have decided to put on a couple of fantastic Christmas parties this year at the Civic.

COVID meant that we didn't hold any last year and there is still some trepidation about further lockdowns later in the year that has been holding us back.

So we have decided that we will do things a little bit different this year and offer just the 2 parties to include a sumptuous party buffet instead of our usual offer of a 2 course sit down meal.

The price is obviously much lower due to this and of course if there are any COVID enforced cancellations then all monies paid will be refunded in full.

We think these dates will sell fast so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Tickets - £15

Call 01384 573381 or Email: boxoffice@bhillcivic.co.uk to book. (Box office open Mon - Fri 9am - 5.15pm)

Keeping The Dream Alive is a play written by Rose Cook Monk honouring the iconic Duncan Edwards and the events of the Munich air crash.

This incredible play tells the story of the world’s greatest footballer Duncan Edwards, who tragically died on the 21st February 1958 from injuries sustained in the infamous Munich aircraft disaster which killed eight of the magnificent Busby Babes, the wonderfully talented young Manchester United players, who under the Management of the iconic Matt Busby were the very best of young footballing talent.

SHREK is here in May 2022 - a regional premiere!!

From the award-winning Quarry Bank Musical Theatre Society, everything #goesgreen from 4th - 11th June 2022 - Total of 9 shows to choose from.

Extra dates have been added as this show will sell out exceptionally quickly!

Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad.

So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?

Get these dates in your dairy, and don't mis out on this "Big, Bright, Beautiful World!"

The Rod Stewart Songbook’s spectacular theatre production is the ultimate homage to Rod Stewart, featuring Pete McCall, Europe’s foremost tribute. Along with his sensational live band, you will be taken on a musical journey spanning 50 years, when one of rock music’s greatest icons sold over 250 million records worldwide.

These unforgettable hits include Sailing, Maggie May, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, Some Guys Have All The Luck, Baby Jane, Rhythm Of My Heart, You Wear It Well, Hot Legs and many many more.

Pete is a consummate professional, whose attention to detail shines through in every way, including stage presence and fabulous costumes. His vocal ability is unequaled and he has the closest voice in the business to the man himself. The Hull Daily Mail quoted on the 5th February 2020, “Pete McCall is the next best thing to seeing Rod himself”. Even the great Rod Stewart would be proud of the tribute paid to him by Pete McCall, in fact Rod’s sister Mary Cady, said to Pete “you were excellent”.

At the show you could easily think you were at an actual Rod Stewart concert, where the atmosphere is electric and the audience are encouraged to participate, sing along and even dance in the aisles. Get ready and be prepared for a very entertaining and nostalgic journey back some 60 years to a time when two teenage idols literally captivated the UK ....... ‘BILLY MEETS CLIFF’ celebrates the wonderful music of Billy Fury and Cliff Richard and is simply guaranteed to bring memories flooding back.

From audiences all over the country, Johnny Crossley continually receives wide acclaim for his portrayal of Billy Fury and much of this is from the many people who actually remember seeing Billy himself during his heyday.  The Sounds and the Moves are all there so if you love Billy Fury, you will love this show ......... and at the same time, easily recognised as the UK’s No 1 ‘Cliff’ performing lookalike, Will Chandler takes you on a wonderfully light-hearted trip through Sir Cliff’s earlier music years.  Hugely entertaining, Will combines the great songs, amazing look and fantastic moves of the Peter Pan of Pop along with a healthy helping of fun! .... and you may even get to experience that magical ‘Wimbledon’ moment!  It’s no wonder that on meeting Will, Sir Cliff himself states “It’s like meeting me”.

Authentically backed by a live band of top musicians, ‘BILLY MEETS CLIFF’ promises to be the one show you’ll not be able to forget and with a little of The Shadows haunting sounds thrown in, it is genuinely a night not to be missed.

Billy and Cliff really did get to meet occasionally during their early careers and now, once again, their music is intertwined in a non-stop show that will leave you in no doubt as to why these two legends are considered to be the backbone of early British Rock’n Roll History.
